The Renowned Musician Calls On Backing to Get Together for Palestine Song to UK Festive Top Spot.
A charity drive is aiming to launch a traditional song from Palestine to the peak of the festive singles chart. The effort hopes to provide aid to Gaza's residents while also highlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.
A Possibility for Support and an "Chart Upset"
Musician and artist Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a moment to stand with Palestinians this festive season. He noted the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“It would be fantastic if that occurred, yes,” he commented. “I wouldn't be completely disappointed if it fails to, festive releases are a thing unto themselves.”
Resilient Spirit of Dignity and Freedom
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the reimagining of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's defiant core message.
“It has a deeply meaningful spot for many individuals,” Barghouti explained. “The essence is that I would rather die in dignity than spend my life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we desire to exist a dignified life that we deserve as Palestinians.”
Recording Origins and Featured Artists
The single was laid down following a solidarity show held in late summer. Originally intended to be done as a live recording, the piece was cut from the show due to the event running long.
The notable list of performers contributing to Lullaby includes a group of acclaimed names from the music world. All participated in the benefit event, which successfully generated a significant sum for charitable causes.
Creation and Launch
Lullaby was crafted by a trio of producers and composers. The song blends a combination of the heritage language with freshly written English words.
The organizers behind the campaign have stated that their goal is to raise as much as possible for a dedicated fund. These donations will be distributed to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an non-profit partner.
“We don’t have a rigid aim,” a spokesperson explained. “We’ll go for the maximum achievable. Obviously, the greater the amount, the better. All proceeds are directed out to the people of Gaza.”
The context in the territory was characterized as its extreme devastation, with a huge proportion of property said to be destroyed or damaged.
“Against that backdrop, a handful of millions is unlikely to make an enormous impact. But I think what truly matters is above all raising awareness for this issue and showing the human dimension of the story.”
The song is scheduled for release on Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the benefit event will be made accessible to view on a major video platform from mid-December.
