Outrage as Popular South African DJ Shot Dead in Johannesburg.
A popular South African radio and club DJ has been shot dead in the country's largest city Johannesburg, triggering widespread grief across a country struggling with rampant crime.
Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was shot and killed in the central business district on Tuesday afternoon.
Police said the forty-year-old entertainer was confronted by three individuals, one of whom opened fire on him before running away.
The purpose of the shooting remains unclear and no arrests have taken place, as per the official statement.
The Fatal Incident
Law enforcement indicated that Stock was ambushed as he was departing from a location close to the city center landmark.
He had spent several hours at the site overseeing the setup of security systems, which had been controversially occupied by unknown people, it was reported.
"Authorities believe the victim was approached by three unidentified men after parking his vehicle, and they opened fire at him before fleeing the scene on foot," an official report said.
CCTV footage showed a individual with dreadlocked hair and clad in what appeared to be a guard's attire firing shots on Stock before running away.
The DJ tried to run away after he was wounded but fell down across the street.
Officials noted that Stock had an unused firearm and nothing was taken during the incident.
