Jurgen Klopp says a return to coach Liverpool is theoretically possible.
Jurgen Klopp, who left Liverpool in 2024, indicated that a future comeback is an option. Klopp, following a hugely successful near-decade reign featuring Champions League success and ending the club's long wait in 30 years, now holds positions overseeing worldwide football with the Red Bull group and as an advisor for the DFL.
Fan Sentiment and Klopp’s Candid Remarks
They secured the league title last season, but many fans who revere Klopp would welcome the notion that he may eventually return. During an extensive chat, he told his interviewer: “I said I won't manage any other side in England. So that means should it be the Reds...yes. Theoretically it’s possible.”
“Being 58, that means I might decide in a few years, it's uncertain. Is a decision required immediately? If so, I wouldn't return. Luckily, no such pressure exists. I'll wait and observe how things unfold.”
Conditions for a Comeback
Pressed on which situations would need to occur to bring him back to the touchline, Klopp admitted he feels no immediate pull to such a return. “I don’t even know exactly, My present work fulfills me,” he commented. “I don't crave being a coach; I avoid standing in the rain for lengthy sessions; No need for press conferences four times, three times a week or constant media duties a week.
“I don’t miss the dressing room as a dressing room, but sitting in a restaurant with the team having a nice chat, that’s nice. We won a lot of games so there was often positive atmosphere around the place. Remaining with me is the captain's chuckle ringing in my ears to illustrate.”
Commending Arne Slot
He commended regarding Arne Slot, crediting him for the tweaks which secured the championship in the previous season. Liverpool have lost four in a row across various tournaments following significant transfers, yet he dismissed the suggestion of it representing a decline.
“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward such as Wirtz, you will all eat your words with negative comments. He’s an incredible talent. Ekitike, incredible player. This is a well-built thoughtfully assembled roster. No need for concern regarding the Reds, they'll bounce back.”
Heartfelt Words for the Late Forward
The manager expressed deep feeling on the loss of Jota, a player he signed in 2020, and the effect at the club. The forward was killed in a road accident alongside his brother in July.
“Who can fill the void of a person like him? It’s not about the player himself, it's his character. I struggle to conceive the dressing room without him in it. I still cannot speak properly on this topic. A devastating blow for the entire squad also. Not a single person would cite it for poor performances yet it's the reality. Entering the changing area where his spirit remains. Coping with it on a personal level is difficult. Impossible.”
