Iran Claims Assault on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Military Operations.
Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed missile attacks across the region in response for a significant and continuing attack targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area close to the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any destruction is uncertain and the US has not commented.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - reported they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their air space.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was attacking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on the Islamic Republic carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck areas associated with the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the Iranian people to rise up against the leadership.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with high efficiency and destroyed a series of missiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted debris landed in a populated district in the capital, causing some material damage and the death of one civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
