Esteemed Performer Pat Finn, Famed For Appearances in Friends and The Middle, Dies at Age 60.
US actor Finn, who featured in iconic TV shows like Friends, "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has died aged 60.
The skilled improv artist died at home in Los Angeles, California this Monday after undergoing treatment for a cancer diagnosis beginning in 2022, as reported by media reports.
"Pat considered no one a stranger - only friends he didn't know yet," his loved ones shared in a announcement.
They added that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with happiness and energy".
An Extensive TV Career
Finn's first television role was on a show starring George Wendt in the mid-90s, where he portrayed the brother of the main character.
He was also seen in a repeating character on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.
He appeared as a party host named Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in 1998, playing a host famous for delegating burdensome jobs to his guests.
During the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he made guest appearances on numerous hit series, including:
- King of Queens
- "Friends"
- "That '70s Show"
- House, M.D.
Finn was perhaps best known for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in "The Middle", appearing throughout eight series from 2011 to 2018.
His work in movies include It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).
Beyond the Screen
Beyond his on-screen roles, Finn was an improv performer and worked as a teacher at the Colorado university, where he was a faculty member.
He was part of a six-person improv troupe known as "Beer Shark Mice".
"Finn coached, befriended and mentored numerous pupils throughout the years and it would be difficult to find someone anywhere who has a bad thing to say about him," his relatives stated.
In a tribute, fellow actor Richard Kind noted there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, grounded individual you could encounter".
"Consistently upbeat, making those around him better and funnier. A wonderful father and man," he posted online.
Pat Finn is survived by his partner Donna, his three kids, and his parents and siblings.
