Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Retains Liverpool's Support After PSV Loss

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it's understandable for doubts to be raised about his future after a further convincing loss against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their 9th loss in 12 games, marking the team's poorest run after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a punishing night at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I am OK, I have got plenty of backing from management,” the coach remarked.

“It would be nice to change things and secure a win of course but when you're working as a coach and not doing well then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I accept my position. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a difficult position but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Talks with The Board

When asked to expand on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me every single minute each day to say they trust me.”

He added, “Through standard discussions I sense the confidence. But I've not talked to them after this defeat yet so we'll see.”

Persistent Problems and Squad Response

The manager highlighted known shortcomings from his team in their Champions League loss, specifically missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everyone,” the midfielder stated.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don't have to wait to reflect. I’m past getting mad inside. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the words.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the side I follow. I support them, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a period like this with outcomes this poor.”

Jones finished, “However we still have that badge on our shirts. And as long as that badge is removed, we will always battle.”

“We will attempt to help the side back to its rightful place, prove once more the values of this club and the reason it's called the greatest side in the planet.”

“At this moment, things are bad and it must improve.”
